Youth and volunteering

The Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy issues pays great attention to the youth group (of both genders), as it considers them the main element capable of bringing about real change in Palestinian society towards the path of development, considering that the youth group has the skills and physical and intellectual energies sufficient to go through the development process and build Palestinian society more than Any other age groups.

Our Palestinian youth have always fought a long struggle for liberation. Our confidence in them and their insistence on volunteering to build the nation has not wavered. Therefore, the Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy Issues has opened the doors of volunteering wide to all our Palestinian youth without discrimination on the basis of gender, color, religion, or affiliation. Politically, therefore, we aspire to have you be one of the volunteer initiators of the center because of the humanitarian work and moral duty that our Palestine deserves.

What is volunteering?

Volunteering in the general sense is the services that an individual provides outside the framework of his work, without expecting any benefit or any financial return, provided that these services bring good to society as a whole. In practice, there is a difference between types of volunteering, some of which include exchanging specific services, collectively responding to the needs of society in times of distress, or defending issues that improve the lives of individuals in society.

Who is the volunteer?

An important characteristic of a volunteer is that he believes in the work he is doing, and that he believes that individuals can make a difference towards a specific issue in society.

What is the importance of volunteering for civil society organizations?

Civil society organizations, all of which operate as non-profit organizations, consider that volunteers are the basis for achieving the needs of society that they seek to meet. They are also the main element in achieving development goals and defending them for the rights and interests of individuals in society. In general, the administrative bodies of these institutions work on a voluntary basis, which indicates that a large percentage of the workers in these institutions are volunteers. In practice, volunteering reduces the cost of human resources that these institutions need to implement their programs, which helps increase these programs in quantity and quality.

On the other hand, the importance of volunteering for civil society organizations lies in the fact that it adds great expertise and energies that cannot be expected. After approving the volunteer’s membership in the center, the coordinators prepare the volunteer to be able to give back to the community.

Obtaining practical experience that qualifies the volunteer to work in non-profit organizations.

Obtaining an experience certificate will help them when searching for a job.

Expanding the network of relationships and communications with institutions and individuals.

Conditions for membership in volunteer committees:-

The volunteer must be within the age group of 18-40 years.

Believing in the importance of volunteer work and in the goals and objectives of the Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy.

The ability to commit to the volunteer work assigned to the volunteer, which sometimes requires field work.

The ability to give within his energies, skills, and creativity, that is, to pledge to provide something that he can do for the center.

He must have the readiness and desire to develop his personality.
