Dignity campaign in Qalqilya governorate

Within the "Dignity" project in partnership with the Palestinian Center for Rapprochement between Peoples, the Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy Issues completed one of its field campaigns in Qalqilya Governorate aimed at enhancing the role of women and youth in the decision-making process at the local level.

The Karama campaign to enhance the role of women and youth in the process of real participation in local bodies was launched from Hajjah town, Qalqilya district, where the participants visited a summer camp in the town to talk about the importance of local bodies and the importance of the role of youth and women in them. The Municipal Council and carrying out field activities represented by distributing brochures, and talking with citizens about the importance of cooperation with local authorities and holding their officials accountable, in addition to distributing rain water to school students. During the campaign, participants from the supporters of the Palestinian Center spoke in general about women's participation in local bodies and the reasons for the weak role and participation of women, as they need the safe spaces that young people need. The mayors who met with them pledged to support the youth by strengthening the partnership between civil society institutions and local authorities. and aspirations of the youth sector. It is worth noting that this project also comes in partnership with the Dutch PAX Foundation and the Middle East Center for Nonviolence and Democracy, which is supported by the European Union.
